HBO Europe alums launch Bucharest-based EastWest Prods

Former HBO Europe execs Wayne Henry and Alina David have launched a new Romanian-based production outfit.

EastWest Productions.eu aims to serve the growing need for production services in eastern Europe and will also develop local talent in drama production.

David has more than two decades production experience gained initially at Bucharest-based Castel Films. She then joined HBO Europe in Romania, where she was responsible for local original scripted content.

Henry previously worked for Fremantle, Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures, before joining HBO Europe where he was VP and exec producer.

“Production services in Romania are among the best in the region,” said David, “and programme and film makers are discovering the great advantages of bringing projects here, offering much lower overall costs plus the high production values of shooting in Romania.”

Bucharest is regularly used to represent major cities such as Moscow and Henry said the new prodco would offer both local and global expertise.

“We bring together key experience and industry knowledge at a local and international level, a unique offering from a Bucharest based production company,” he said. “At the same time, we are keen to forge international co-production opportunities, both within central Europe and in the US.”
