Sky Deutschland unveils originals push across genres

Sky Deutschland has unveiled a significant expansion of its original content drive following the recent launch of the new channels Sky Crime, Sky Comedy, Sky Nature and Sky Documentaries.

In addition to the Sky originals Die Ibiza Affaire and Die Wespe, both of which will air this year, the pay operator is also set to offer the second season of Der Pass, Paradiso, Das Boot and Souls in 2022, alongside the fourth run of Babylon Berlin.

A total of 60 self-produced series from Germany, the UK and Italy are also planned for broadcast.

Filming of Munich Match started recently and more new series will go into production in the coming months, Sky said, including Autobahn, Tender Hearts and Chamäleon.

Elke Walthelm, program director at Sky Deutschland, said the company wanted to offer “top-class in-house productions” across genres, which had prompted the “massive increase” in investment of self-produced series.
