Red Arrow Int’l takes ‘Controlling Britney’ rights
Red Arrow Studios International has acquired global distribution rights to Controlling Britney Spears, a new feature length documentary containing new allegations about the pop icon’s daily life inside her much-scrutinised conservatorship.
The documentary is a follow-up to previous doc Framing Britney Spears and was produced in partnership by The New York Times and Left/Right, a Red Arrow Studios company. The film is directed by Samantha Stark, and Liz Day is supervising producer and reporter.
Controlling Britney Spears premiered on FX and Hulu in the US on 24 September. Tim Gerhartz, president & MD at Red Arrow Studios International, said: “We are already seeing huge interest in Controlling Britney Spears from our partners globally and are look forward to bringing these new revelations to viewers around the world very soon.”
Love Nature & WNET launch sardine doc
Blue Ant Media’s natural history channel Love Nature and PBS-owned broadcasting group The WNET Group have co-produced a new documentary about South Africa’s annual sardine run.
Produced by Earth Touch, The Ocean’s Greatest Feast will debut on PBS in the US as part of its Nature series, Love Nature’s linear and streaming platforms – outside of co-production territories – Sky Nature in the UK, Italy and Germany, France Télévisions and SVT in Sweden.
Blue Ant International holds distribution rights to the film outside of its co-producing territories.
The 1 x 60-minute feature has recently wrapped filming on the coast of South Africa, and explores the event which takes place between May and July each year, when billions of sardines spawn and travel up the east coast of the country to Mozambique, providing an annual “moveable feast” for a spectacular array of marine predators.
“The cutting-edge technology and techniques that Earth Touch uses in The Ocean’s Greatest Feast not only showcases never-before-seen perspectives, but results in an incredibly breathtaking and compelling story about the creatures who play a part in this natural phenomenon,” says Carlyn Staudt, global general manager, Love Nature. “

VTM has commissioned a second season, while John de Mol’s Talpa Network has also ordered a Dutch version, to air later this year on SBS6.
Earlier this year, US-based indie Propagate Content acquired local rights to the format from Belgian distributors Be-Entertainment.
