Discovery buys Quintus prison series
Discovery in Latin America and Iberia has picked up rights to the third season of Behind Bars – The World’s Toughest Prisons from Quintus Media.
The show, produced by German factual producer Maximus Film, features unprecedented access to some of the planet’s most notorious detention facilities including Ukraine’s Zhytomyr Prison, Jefferson City Correctional institution and Maafushi Prison in the Maldives.
Pre-sale deals for the third run have also been struck with SBS Viceland in Australia (via Parade Media), Bell Media in Canada and WELT Germany, whilst AMC Networks International – Central and Northern Europe for Spektrum in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia has acquired all three seasons.
Disney snags ZAG’s Ghostforce
Disney Channels in the US has acquired kids action-comedy series Ghostforce.
The show, created and produced by Jeremy Zag, is aimed at 6- to 10-year-olds and follows three junior-high school students who form a secret team to defend their city from the ghastly ghouls haunting it.
It will premiere 4 October on Disney XD, with new episodes debuting weekdays. The deal includes rights to the 52 x 11-minute show in North America, Japan and India, adding to the existing deals with Disney Channel EMEA, Russia and the Middle East.
Ghostforce had its world premiere in France on TF1 in August and Disney Channel has already debuted the series in Germany and Israel, with additional territories rolling out this fall.
