Keshet’s Tresor strikes exclusive first-look format deal with MGM in Germany
Keshet’s German producer Tresor has struck an exclusive first-look deal with MGM Television’s global formats division for non-scripted formats.
The one-year agreement, effective from this month, will give Tresor an exclusive window on all new non-scripted formats in MGM’s global formats catalogue.
It expands the companies’ existing relationship that saw them collaborate on taking MGM’s Generation Gap to German broadcaster WDR, renamed locally as Das Ist Mein Zeit – Die Generationenshow.
Tresor’s Axel Kuhn said the pact would provide his prodco with “access to an on-going supply of fresh and high-quality ideas, including paper formats, for us to develop for our broadcast partners here in Germany.}
Scot Cru, MGM’s EVP of global formats & unscripted, added: “MGM has enjoyed a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Tresor. Axel and his team are innovators and exactly the kind of producers we like to be in business with. We’re looking forward to working more closely with them.”
In related news, Tresor has renewed its existing first-look deal with South Korean media group CJ ENM for non-scripted formats for a further 12-months.
The two companies have already worked on adapting two formats for the German market to date: 300: War of United Voices, which Tresor produced for ProSieben Sat1 in March 2020; and music mystery show I Can See Your Voice, produced for RTL.
