HBO develops Stitcher podcast ‘Mob Queens’ with Lena Dunham, Ruth Wilson

WarnerMedia’s HBO is adapting a drama based on popular podcast Mob Queens, with Lena Dunham (Girls), Ruth Wilson (His Dark Materials) and Dennis Lehane (The Wire) attached.

The drama, which is in development, will dive into the Stitcher podcast and tell the story of Anna Genovese, who was married to 1930s mobster Vito Genovese.

Anna became a famous face in New York’s drag scene before detailing an array of Cosa Nostra secrets during her divorce case from Vito.

Dunham is co-writing and directing via her label Good Thing Going, as well as exec producing with podcast creators and presenters, Michael Seligman and Jessica Bendinger.
