NBCU’s Peacock lands on Sky UK as ‘content destination’
NBCUniversal (NBCU) has begun the soft roll-out of its streaming brand Peacock in the UK via sibling Sky.
At present, the focus is on the platform’s content rather than the SVOD itself, with NBCU – which owns Sky and Peacock – saying that the 16 November roll out marks the launch of the US streamer’s content across Sky territories.
NBCU, which first revealed it would be expanding into the UK this summer, has said that “thousands of hours” of content will be made available to Sky and NOW customers at no extra cost.
This includes Peacock originals such as Rutherford Falls and Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol and movies including O Brother, Where Art Thou? and Tower Heist.
There have been no announced plans to roll out Peacock as a standalone streaming service within Europe as yet, but following the soft launch, it will expand as a “content destination” across Sky territories, including Germany, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland.
