Apple TV+ orders Alfonso Cuarón thriller, with Cate Blanchett & Kevin Kline

Apple TV+ has ordered Disclaimer, a new psychological thriller series from multi-Oscar winning Mexican director and producer Alfonso Cuarón.

Cuarón (Roma, Gravity) will write, direct and executive produce the series as the first project under his overall multi-year TV deal with Apple TV+, via his production company Esperanto Filmoj, and alongside Anonymous Content.

Fellow Oscar-winners Cate Blanchett (Don’t Look Up) and Kevin Kline (The Starling) will star in the series, with Blanchett also exec producing.

Based on the novel of the same name by Renee Knight, Disclaimer sees Blanchett portray a successful and respected television documentary journalist whose work has been built on revealing the concealed transgressions of long-respected institutions.

When an intriguing novel written by a widower (played by Kline) appears on her bedside table, she is horrified to realize she is a key character in a story that she had hoped was long buried in the past.

Esperanto Filmoj’s Gabriela Rodriguez and Anonymous Content’s David Levine, Dawn Olmstead and Steve Golin will also exec produce, while Renee Knight serves as co-executive producer.

Cuarón also currently serves as producer on the Apple Original film Raymond And Ray, which is now in production from Apple Studios.
