France’s Terence Films picks up remake rights to Canuck drama ‘Après’
Banijay-owned Terence Films has picked up option rights to adapt French-language drama series Après (aka After).
The prodco has snagged adaptation rights for France and French territories from CBC & Radio-Canada Distribution, which sells the format and tape. No broadcaster/streamer is yet attached to the adaptation.
Après (6 x 60 minutes) was produced by Canada’s Duo Productions and explores the aftermath of a tragic event in a small rural town in Quebec. The original starred Karine Vanasse (Cardinal) and is directed by Louis Choquette (Les Honorables).
“After tells a powerful story about facing trauma, grief and resilience,” said Mia Desroches, director of global distribution for scripted & kids content at CBC’s sales arm. “We are extremely proud of this high impact and compelling limited series; it is a great property and we are very excited to be working with Banijay and Terence Films to adapt it for new international audiences.”
Terence Films was founded in 2005 and is led by Stéphane Meunier and Bertrand Cohen. It was acquired by Banijay in 2018 and is behind Les Innocents for TF1; Foudre for France Televisions and Brother And Brother for Canal+.
