Germany’s Vox sets date with French format ‘Love IRL’
Germany’s Vox has ordered a local version of French reality-based documentary format Love IRL.
The show follows people who are emotionally invested with someone they have only ever met virtually and sees them finally meet face-to-face in an extraordinary location.
Once together, participants must decide if there is a romantic spark and if they would like to spend more time together.
The German show is being produced by Endemol Shine Germany, whose parent Banijay has also picked up format rights in the UK, Italy, Spain, Holland and Flanders in Belgium.
The show was originally created by Studio 89 Productions and distributed by sibling sales firm, M6 Formats. The French show, known as Et Si On Se Rencontrait?, has been confirmed for a second run on M6 in France.
Fabian Tobias, MD of Endemol Shine Germany, said: “This format provides an in-depth examination of virtual dating. Meeting online may be becoming the norm, but can you really connect with someone if you never meet? Each couple has their own story and reasoning for only interacting online so bringing them together creates beautiful, moving and heart-warming, once-in-a-lifetime introductions.”
