FilmRise hires Lionsgate, Vudu alum to oversee digital distribution
US-based producer and sales firm FilmRise has hired the head of content at NBCUniversal and WarnerMedia-owned streamer Vudu to oversee its digital distribution operations.
Daniel Gagliardi becomes VP of digital distribution & business development at FilmRise, with a remit to oversee the firm’s AVOD and FAST channels, as well as securing global partners. He will report to Melissa Wohl, SVP & head of sales.
Gagliardi was previously responsible for building and leading the content partnerships team at Vudu, which is owned by NBCU and WarnerMedia joint venture firm, Fandango.
He oversaw original programming, film/TV licensing and third-party channel licensing for the streamer, and before that was VP of worldwide TV & digital distribution at Lionsgate, where he oversaw content licensing partnerships with an emphasis on AVOD.
FilmRise has been expanding its ad-supported operations of late, launching a Classic TV channel and app last year that offers vintage series such as The Dick Van Dyke Show and That Girl.
