David E Kelley’s ‘Big Little Lies’ prodco appoints new president
Big Little Lies prodco David E Kelley Productions has promoted writer and producer Matthew Tinker to the role of president, all media.
His appointment marks the first time in more than a decade since the company has had a president and comes as the firm expands its slate, with recent orders for dramas including The Missing for Peacock, Love And Death for HBO Max and A Man In Full for Netflix.
Tinker, who has been elevated from his EVP role, is executive producing all three of these shows and also serves as a writer and producer on Kelley’s ABC series Big Sky.
In his new role, he will lead on all aspects of development and production while the company looks to grow its offering of both limited and ongoing series. Most of the company’s current series have Kelley attached as writer and showrunner, but the firm will also look to work with other writers as it seeks to expand its slate.
Tinker has held numerous roles at David E Kelley Productions, starting out as Kelley’s assistant and going on to work as a producer on HBO shows Big Little Lies and The Undoing as well as Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers.
Kelley described Tinker as “a one-man triumvirate,” adding: “Writing, producing, developing – he’s a major talent, one I’m thrilled to have as our president.”
