Fox seeks ‘Hell Or High Water’
Fox in the US is developing a TV adaptation of the David Mackenzie-directed 2016 feature film Hell Or High Water.
SK Global, which produced the original film, and Fox Entertainment are behind the project, which is being brought to the small screen by Stranger Things co-executive producer Jessica Mecklenburg.
The 2016 film starred Chris Pine and Ben Foster as two brothers who carry out a string of bank robberies in order to save their family ranch, while being pursued by Texas Rangers.
According to Variety, which first reported the story, the series adaptation will be written and exec produced by Mecklenburg and exec produced by Sidney Kimmel, John Penotti, Charlie Corwin and Marcy Ross of SK Global, Gigi Pritzker and Rachel Shane of Madison Wells and David Mackenzie, Julie Yorn and Carla Hacken.
Apple TV+ returns ‘The Morning Show’
Apple TV+ has extended its drama series The Morning Show for a third season and struck a multi-year deal with Charlotte Staudt, who will join the show as showrunner.
Starring and executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, directed by Mimi Leder and produced by the studio Media Res, Hello Sunshine and Echo Films, the series goes behind the scenes on a popular breakfast news show.
“I’m excited to be joining forces with Apple TV+ and ‘The Morning Show,'” said Stoudt. “The cast, led by the phenomenal Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, are truly to die for.”
Treasure to adapt ‘Glorious Guinness Girls’
Ireland’s Treasure Entertainment has optioned the rights to adapt Emily Hourican’s novel The Glorious Guinness Girls as a returning series.
Produced by the company’s Rebecca O’Flanagan and Robert Walpole, the series will follow the three Guinness sisters, Aileen, Maureen and Oonagh, and their companion Fliss during the Irish Civil War and their time in glamourous 1920s London,
“We love Emily’s work and think this is such an exciting exploration of the family behind the international brand,” said O’Flanagan.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ back for S19
ABC in the US has ordered a 19th season of long-running medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.
Showrunner Krista Vernoff and star Ellen Pompeo have also been confirmed to be returning to the Shonda Rhimes-created show, which last year became TV’s longest-running primetime medical drama.
“I couldn’t be more excited that we get to keep telling the stories of Meredith, Bailey, Richard and all of the other doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial for another season,” said Rhimes.
‘Emily In Paris’ for two more seasons
Netflix has renewed Emily In Paris for two additional seasons.
The romantic comedy series will return for a third and fourth run, continuing to follow the story of the titular Emily (played by Lily Collins), a young Chicago marketing exec who begins a new life after landing a job in Paris, France.
The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, Darren Star Productions and Jax Media.
