BBCS Productions extends production training accelerator
BBC Studios Productions in the UK is extending its Assistant Producer Accelerator Programme this year by offering training to a further 15 researchers.
Following its inaugural programme in 2021, the company will offer one-year contracts to entrants seeking to supercharge their careers and provide them with the knowledge, skills and experience they need to become assistant producers.
The debut programme saw 14 candidates recruited to work in factual entertainment, natural history, entertainment and music, documentaries and science across BBC Studios Productions bases in London, Cardiff, Bristol, Salford and Glasgow.
The trainee assistant producers are currently working on titles including Top Gear, The One Show and Last Night Of The Proms as they learn everything they need, from developing their practical filmmaking skills in scripting and storyboarding to learning more about areas such as leadership, team management and mental health awareness.
Ralph Lee, BBC Studios Productions CEO, commented: “The first cohort of APs to come through this programme are making a fantastic impact in production so I’m delighted to be able to renew the scheme and offer this opportunity to fifteen more emerging editorial stars.”
