‘Handmaid’s Tale’ showrunner Bruce Miller renews Disney overall deal, MGM dropped from pact
Bruce Miller, showrunner on Hulu drama The Handmaid’s Tale has renewed his multi-year overall deal with Disney.
Terms of the deal have altered this time around, however, with his first pact in 2018 signed with Hulu and MGM, while this latest agreement is with Disney-owned Hulu and ABC Signature, dropping outside studio MGM from the partnership.
MGM produces The Handmaid’s Tale and its upcoming sequel The Testaments and Miller will continue to serve as showrunner on the series, which is currently in pre-production on its fifth season, while also developing projects for ABC Signature and Hulu.
“Bruce has created one of the most iconic series in all of television in The Handmaid’s Tale,” said Jonnie Davis, president of ABC Signature. “His work has had worldwide influence and we’re thrilled and honoured to be working with him at ABC Signature. We cannot wait to be a part of what’s next.”
