‘Euphoria’s ADD & Blue Ant link for North American remake of Israel’s ‘The First Family’

The First Family

Producer-distributor ADD Content and Blue Ant Studios in Canada have struck a scripted format development deal for a North American remake of Israeli drama The First Family.

The family drama, which was originally commissioned and aired by Israeli broadcaster HOT, explores what happens when a fractured family already tearing at the seams is thrown into the highest profile position in the country.

It was co-created by Shachar Magan (Possessions) and Noa Rotman, granddaughter of former Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, with Koda Communications producing.

ADD and Blue Ant will co-develop and co-produce the North American show, which is yet to have a broadcaster/streamer attached.

Inspired by real experiences, the format follows how individual lives change and how the position of being the country’s most prominent politician starts to influence every bit of their well-being, both physically and mentally.

Eva Miller, VP of scripted development at Blue Ant Studios, said: “The First Family comes with all the juicy inter-family politics that make for great drama, while also offering a chance to explore class and the complicated relationship between private and public identities that resonates so deeply with today’s society.”

ADD previously struck scripted formats deals including selling Euphoria to HBO for a remake starring Zendaya, which has recently been commissioned for a third season.
