David E Kelley & Andrew Zimmern link for natural history docuseries
Producer and writer David E Kelley has partnered with Andrew Zimmern and his Intuitive Content label for his first foray into docuseries, with the natural history project, Eating Up The Oceans: How Do We Save Our Seas?
The six-part series, which will be co-produced by David E Kelley Productions and Intuitive Content, explores how climate change threatens the very existence of marine life and our own, following frontline experts who are working across multiple disciplines to affect change and curtail an impending crisis.
Kelley and Zimmern are collaborating with sustainable seafood expert and founder of Fed by Blue, Jennifer Bushman, on the project, which is described as “equal parts nature documentary, investigative journalism and food travelogue.”
All three will serve as executive producers, alongside Intuitive’s Patrick Weiland and expert advisors Jill Kauffman Johnson and Katherine Bryar.
Kelley is best known as the creator of scripted series such as Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers, while Zimmern’s Intuitive Content is behind unscripted projects including Family Dinner and How To Survive A Murder.
“We have the power to course our path by reconsidering behaviors that can help restore our delicate balance,” said Zimmern. “David and I share a passion for food and the health of our marine ecosystems and are conveying a message of hope through this series: we absolutely can replenish our oceans while also sustainably nourishing the world.”
“It’s time to tell the stories of the inspiring visionaries, the water farmers, fishers, scientists and activists that are already creating pathways to restore abundance to our oceans,” added Kelley.
