Endeavour-backed Blink49 Studios to adapt Marissa Stapley novel

Toronto-based Blink49 Studios, the recently launched, Endeavor Content-backed firm, has acquired the rights to adapt author Marissa Stapley’s novel Things To Do When It’s Raining.

The Canadian epic romantic drama tells the story of a woman who is driven by deception and despair to return home from the city to her grandparent’s inn.

There, she encounters the man who was her companion as a child and her first love as a teenage girl, but then disappeared from her life without a trace. The ultimately life affirming story unravels the past and braids together three generations of love affairs.

Blink49 Studios’ EVP of global scripted, Carolyn Newman, and EP Virginia Rankin will executive produce the series.

They commented: “How can you beat an epic romance with a great mystery at the core to unravel? Once we started reading, we couldn’t put it down. Marissa knows how to craft a story that truly resonates, and we are thrilled to be working with her on adapting her novel.”

Things To Do When It’s Raining will be the second project for the firm, which was founded in November 2021 by CEO John Morayniss, executive vice chair Patrice Theroux, COO Jeff Lynas and CFO Nelson Kuo-Lee, and which acquired the rights to adapt author Charlene Carr’s novel Hold My Girl as its first project in January.
