There will be no Russian presence at this year’s International Emmy Awards, after organisers said any shows commissioned or produced by companies from the country would be ineligible.

The Executive Committee of the International Academy said the decision had been made in support of Ukraine, which has been at war with Russia following the latter’s incursion more than a month ago.

All programmes from Russia will be excluded from this year’s competition, including shows produced by and/or co-produced with Russia-based companies.

Programmes originally made for a Russian-owned channel, network or streaming platform will also be ruled ineligible. Any shows already submitted will be withdrawn from the process.

This follows the previously announced action of suspending memberships, as well as all formal affiliations with Russia-based companies.
