BritBox confirms Nordics launch for next week
ITV Studios and BBC Studios joint-owned streamer BritBox will roll out in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland next week.
The launch, which was first announced in December, has now been confirmed for 28 April, and follows a pact with regional operator C More.
The Nordic expansion will extend BritBox into eight countries internationally, following launches in countries including the US, Canada, Australia, and South Africa. Nordic subscribers will gain access to thousands of hours of British content, such as Doctor Who, The Beast Must Die and Irvine Welsh’s Crime.
Upcoming BritBox originals also include true crime dramas Stonehouse and The Thief, His Wife, And The Canoe; light-hearted murder mystery series Sister Boniface Mysteries and period drama The Confessions Of Frannie Langton.
“Adding fresh originals to our deep range of genres and quality classics is a powerful combination that has just helped us surpass 2.5 million subscribers around the world,” said Reemah Sakaan, BritBox International CEO.
“Now, the BritBox team can’t wait to bring some of Britain’s biggest established names and brightest breakthrough stars to millions of new fans in the Nordics.”
The BBC recently sold its 10% stake in the UK version of BritBox, which will remain as a brand on ITV’s new streamer ITVX, but not as a standalone streaming service.
