News round-up: Bravo debuts move from Hulu to Peacock; Canada/France co-pro treaty begins; Storyville recruits for Gloria Gaynor doc
Bravo debuts move from Hulu to Peacock
Bravo shows including The Real Housewives Of Atlanta, Top Chef and Below Deck are making a next-day streaming moving from Disney-owned Hulu to NBCUniversal streamer Peacock.
Peacock will become the new home to Bravo series, airing on the service the day after their Bravo debut, after the studio cut its pipeline to Hulu in March.
The move begins immediately, with season 14 of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta making its streaming debut on Peacock, while other shows include Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Summer House and Below Deck Sailing Yacht.
“Next-day availability on Peacock expands Bravo’s reach to a whole new audience who otherwise may not have access to the network, while also giving our ‘Bravoholics’ an easy way to catch up or dig deep on past seasons of their favorite shows,” said Frances Berwick, Chairman, Entertainment Networks.
Canada/France co-pro treaty begins
A co-pro agreement signed between Canada and France last year has now officially come into effect after being ratified by the Canadian parliament.
The treaty covers TV, film and on-demand services and provides a new framework for co-productions between the two countries, which have been frequent partners for several decades.
For a project to be eligible under the new agreement, it must be co-produced by at least one producer from each of the parties, while each person working on the project – other than the producers – must be either French of Canadian.
The minimum financial contribution by the French and Canadian producers to a television and on-demand project must be 20% of the total production budget.
Storyville recruits for Gloria Gaynor doc
Editor David Zieff (The First Wave) is joining Storyville Entertainment’s feature documentary Gloria: I Will Survive, about disco legend Gloria Gaynor.
Company president Betsy Schechter has also enlisted TV and film executive and Hellcat founder Pippa Lambert to help with the final phases of completion of the documentary.
The film reveals how the unstoppable Gaynor, who, despite incredible hardship, has wielded her undeniable musical talent to change the course of her life, having surmounted illness, paralysis, her sister’s murder, a 25-year traumatic marriage (and divorce) and a cleaned-out bank account.
“I’m thrilled to help tell Gloria’s complete and rather surprising story. It’s remarkable to be able to sift through a rich treasure trove of private super 8 material and share Gloria’s unknown journey with the public for the first time through this film,” said Zieff.
