Denmark’s ‘Big Love’ format travels across Europe with Media Ranch

Danish reality health format Big Love has been optioned in The Netherlands following a deal with distributor Media Ranch, which has also confirmed a Belgian version has recently wrapped production.

The format, which is part of Danish pubcaster DR’s slate, has been optioned in The Netherlands by Monday Media, while a fourth season of the show is in production in Denmark and is set to air this summer on DR1.

A French Canadian version of Big Love started airing in January on Quebecor’s SVOD platform VRAI, while the Belgian version is being produced by De Mensen and will debut 23 May on Play4.

The show, created by STV Productions, follows three couples who have all put on weight since they first fell for each other. It tracks their attempts to ditch their bad habits and extra pounds to rekindle the spark.

Canadian distributor Media Ranch first partnered with Danish broadcaster DR to represent its TV formats internationally in 2019, as revealed by TBI.
