Eccho Rights to shop ‘Granite Harbour’

Eccho Rights has acquired global distribution rights to upcoming BBC drama Granite Harbour.

The series, produced by UK outfit LA Productions for BBC One, BBC Scotland and BBC iPlayer, is currently in production and Eccho Rights will launch the series for international sales later this year.

The series is produced in association with Dopamine, and represents the latest international project from the Mexico-based studio, whose recent credits include the Connie Nielsen and Christopher Eccleston vehicle Close To Me.

Granite Harbour centres on the story of Lance Corporal Davis Lindo (Romario Simpson) who arrives in Aberdeen as a new recruit to Police Scotland.

Having completed his final tour with the Royal Military Police in the Caribbean, Lindo dreams of being a detective at New Scotland Yard. However, he finds himself being sent to train as a Detective Constable in the North East of Scotland, and he must quickly adapt to his new life in Aberdeen, a world away from anything this soldier has known before.

Lindo finds an ally in his mentor, DCI Tara ‘Bart’ Bartlett (Hannah Donaldson), a razor-sharp, streetwise Aberdonian who is used to going solo. Together, this unlikely partnership must navigate the choppy waters of their first case – the murder of one of Aberdeen’s most recognisable faces from the Oil Industry.

Telemundo & Inter Medya team-up

Telemundo has struck a multi-year co-production agreement with Turkish producer and distributor Inter Medya.

The deal will see Turkish telenovela formats remade for Spanish-speaking audiences in the US, while the two firms will also co-produce scripted shows to the Telemundo network.

Karen Barroeta, EVP of production and development for Telemundo Television Studios said: “Merging the power and appeal of Turkish properties with Telemundo’s superior production capabilities further strengthens our position as a leading producer of premium scripted content.”

Fiction Valley links with Pieter Bart Korthuis

Fremantle’s Fiction Valley has inked a three-year deal with Pieter Bart Korthuis, the creator and showrunner of Netflix’s Dirty Lines.

The pact will see Fiction Valley, which is run by Annemike van Vliet, develop and produce a slate of scripted drama series from Korthuis, with which the firm previously worked with on Dirty Lines.

Korthuis’ other credits include The Year of Fortuyn and Penoza, while Fiction Valley is behind shows such as Suspects and Mocro Maffia.
