News round-up: Vice moves onto Tubi; MContent’s India mentor scheme; Be-Entertainment’s Italy deal
Vice moves onto Tubi
Vice Distribution, the sales arm of Vice Media Group, has launched its FAST channel on Fox’s AVOD streamer Tubi.
The new partnership includes 200 hours of programming from across Vice made available on Tubi for the first time and comes a year after the youth-skewing firm launched VICE FAST.
Bea Hegedus, global head of distribution at Vice Media Group, said: “With our popular FAST channel and ever-increasing catalogue of highly original, premium programming, Vice is at the fore to maximise the opportunities of this high growth connected TV sector.”
The sales element of the deal will see shows including Dark Side Of The Ring, docuseries Most Expensivest and true crime series The Devil You Know become available via Tubi.
Vice’s sales outfit has been exploring new routes to market over the past 18 months, including closing its UK-facing linear channel on Sky to shift further into AVOD and FAST, as revealed by TBI.
MContent’s India mentor scheme
Sacred Games co-creator Anurag Kashyap has partnered with content platform Content to launch a mentorship and funding program for aspiring filmmakers and content creators in India and neighbouring countries.
The program will be hosted on MContent’s MSeed platform, which allows content creators to apply by first downloading MContent and then uploading a 2-3 minute pitch video.
These videos can then be viewed and voted on by the MContent community, consisting of consumers and investors around the world. Top-rated projects will then be shortlisted and four will be selected. The winners will have the opportunity to be mentored by Anurag Kashyap and other leading filmmakers and ultimately have their dream film project produced and exhibited by MContent.
Be-Entertainment’s Italy deal
Distributor Be-Entertainment has struck a deal to sell formats from Italian outfit BluYazmine.
The sales firm, which recently hired business director Annelies Noest, will represent musical entertainment format The Musical of Your Life, which launched in Belgium. Further titles will be added in the future.
