Breakthrough Films & TV’s distribution chief & Syndicado president launch finance firm

Breakthrough Films & Television’s former distribution chief Craig McGillivray and Syndicado president Greg Rubidge have launched a new sales, financing and production company.

10Star Media will be headed by Toronto-based McGillivray, who will oversee pre-sales and financing in partnership with independent producers and production companies globally.

The company, which has a slate of shows for sales and pre-sales here at BANFF, will leverage Syndicado’s expertise of streaming and FAST channels to finance “all opportunities” including development, as well as straight sales and VOD distribution.

McGillivray was most recently helped sell and exec produce series such as Cruise Ship Killers, Breaking Wild and feature Vicious Fun during his stint at Breakthrough, having previously worked with Peacock Alley Entertainment as VP of distribution and DHX Media as territory manager.

Rubidge, who worked in banking before moving into TV with Syndicado, said: “Syndicado’s strength with the major streamers and FAST players created an amazing opportunity for us to move in to pre-sales, financing and production in partnership with our long term producer clients.

“Having known Craig from his past roles and developing this new idea that strategically works alongside Syndicado, was a no-brainer and our partnership was born.”
