Netflix & Nippon TV strike multi-title anime deal

Netflix has further expanded its partnership with Japan’s Nippon TV, picking up a range of anime titles for non-exclusive global streaming.

Beginning on 1 September, Netflix will add the first 38 episodes of Hunter X Hunter, to stream in 104 countries including Spain, Italy, Finland, Turkey, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Also launching on 1 September are Ouran High School Host Club in 190 countries, and Claymore in 136 countries.

In March, Netflix acquired Old Enough! from Nippon TV, building on the partnership struck between Netflix and Nippon in November 2021, which saw the streamer pick up 30 series from the Japanese network for its Asian subscribers.

The full new anime deal includes 148 x 30-minute episodes of Hunter X Hunter; 26 x 30-minutes of Ouran High School Host Club and 26 x 30-minutes of Claymore; alongside Death Note (37 x 30-minutes); Death Note: Relight 1 (1 x 130-minutes); Death Note: Relight 2 (1 x 120-minutes); From Me To You (38 x 30-minutes); Berserk (25 x 30-minutes); Parasyte – The Maxim (24 x 30-minutes); Nana (47 x 30-minures); Hajime No Ippo: The Fighting! (76 x 30-minutes) and Monster (74 x 30-minutes).
