Welsh broadcaster S4C overhauls creative team with three new roles
Welsh-language broadcaster S4C has restructured its commissioning team with a raft of changes at the Sian Doyle-led broadcaster.
The organisation, which is behind Duchess Street Productions/Triongl’s Y Golau, recently named Llinos Griffin-Williams as its chief content officer, who has now created three new roles.
The young audiences commissioner 16-24 role is a new post that will be filled by Guto Rhun, previously S4C’s assistant commissioner of online content, while a head of unscripted is being recruited.
The role will focus on developing the channel’s co-productions, premium series and developing the international slate of content, while Rhodri ap Dyfrig has been named digital content transformation lead.
Other changes include:
- Gwenllian Gravelle, previously S4C’s drama commissioner, becoming head of scripted with a scripted commissioning executive also being recruited.
- Llinos Wynne, previously S4C’s factual commissioner, now takes the role as head of docs & specialist factual.
Sue Butler remains head of sport; Sioned Geraint leads on kids as education and children’s commissioner; and Elen Rhys is head of entertainment & fact ent.
Griffin-Williams said: “My goal for these roles and for S4C’s wider commissioning strategy, is to make us a digital first broadcaster and a truly, a cross-platform channel with an international focus and a truly, a cross-platform channel with an international focus and an appetite for exciting co-productions and innovative partnerships.”
Doyle, who took up the top job at S4C earlier this year, told TBI in April that she wanted to expand international co-productions as part of its mandate to take Welsh-language content to global audiences.
