Netflix hires HBO Max alum to lead adult animated series following Mike Moon exit

Netflix has named former HBO Max exec Billy Wee to leads it adult animation push, replacing the outgoing Mike Moon.

Wee becomes director of adult animation comedy series from LA and reports into John Derderian, Netflix’s VP of animated series. He replaces Moon, who left in July.

He was most recently SVP of comedy & animation at HBO Max, which has been cutting back on its animation team since the creation of Warner Bros. Discovery.

In related news, Netflix has upped Jermaine Turner to become director of adult animation action series, having joined the streamer from Disney in 2020.
