BBC orders ‘Digital Girl’, with pre-sales to Super RTL & Discovery Kids
UK pubcaster the BBC has commissioned Digital Girl, a new animated series, that has also been sold to Super RTL in Germany and Discovery Kids in Latin America.
The 26 x 22-minute series, from Bristol-based A Productions, is set to be delivered in late 2024. Cyber Group Studios, which has helped secure international presales financing, has been attached to the series as the worldwide distributor.
Set in the futuristic Frisco City, the series follows two 13-year-old best friends, Chrissie (Digital Girl) and Bella (Hack Girl), in their struggle to dominate the digital networks to protect the world and their families and ensure their own future.
“We are thrilled to have begun production on this new action-packed animated series, featuring two teenage girls who will inspire and entertain young audiences as they go on an epic adventure”, said Katherine McQueen, joint managing director at A Productions. “It joins a fantastic roster of shows that our talented creative team is currently working on, so we’re very much looking forward to an exciting year ahead.”
Pierre Sissmann, chairman and CEO of Cyber Group Studios and creator of the series, added: “This is a show kids will easily relate to. The dual themes of everyday high school life and the excitement of the newest technologies will resonate with viewers, while the series’ action-packed adventure and storylines with humorous twists and turns will surely keep them entertained throughout.”
