Frozen Planet II goes global
Movistar+ in Spain, Mediaset in Italy and Nine network in Oz are moans buyers of Frozen Planet II, presented by Sir David Attenborough.
The six-part series has also been acquired in New Zealand (TVNZ), Portugal (SIC), India (Sony BBC Earth), Sweden (SVT), Finland (YLE), Norway (NRK) and Denmark (DRTV). BBC Earth channels across Asia, Africa, Turkey, Poland, Canada, MENA, Nordics and BBC Player in Malaysia and Singapore will also be premiering the series.
The show was produced by BBC Studios Natural History Unit and co-produced by BBC AMERICA, the Open University, Migu Video, ZDF, France Télévisions and NHK.
MCR & Autentic prep Monaco Explorations
Monaco-based broadcaster MCR TV and Autentic have linked on a documentary focusing on scientists exploring remote and unknown environments across the world, the first project of a long-term collaboration between the companies.
Monaco Explorations will take place in the Western Indian Ocean and explore ecosystems in four areas between Reunion, Mauritius and Seychelles. More expeditions to other oceans around the world will be accompanied by Autentic in the coming years.
Federation to sell 66th North
Federation Studios has acquired distribution rights to 66th North Precinct, a 8 x 52-minute Finnish crime series produced by Yellow Film & TV (Borg vs McEnroe). Federation will handle international sales of the series in partnership with Nordisk Film Distribution.
The show has been created by producer and showrunner Olli Haikka, Olli Tola and author Timo Varpio. Teppo Airaksinen (Ceiling) directs. The drama tells the story of a detective and ex-world champion boxer who, with the help of her partner, solves crimes all over the unforgiving yet beautiful Nordic landscape. The series will premiere on the Finnish channel YLE in 2023.
