TelevisaUnivision & Globo links for co-pro & distribution pact
US-based Spanish-language giant TelevisaUnivision and Globo in Brazil have struck a co-production and distribution deal, initially covering three scripted titles.
The first productions included in the deal are two ViX+ productions by TelevisaUnivision: the recently launched series La Mujer del Diablo (aka The Devil’s Wife) and upcoming series Travesuras de la Niña Mala (aka Bad Girl), based on Mario Vargas Llosa’s book; as well as the Globoplay Original telenovela Todas as Flores (aka All The Flowers).
The first season of La Mujer del Diablo is available exclusively on ViX+ in the United States and throughout Spanish-speaking Latin America, whereas Travesuras de la Niña Mala will premiere on ViX+ later this year; both series will be shown in Brazil on Globoplay.
Todas as Flores, which premieres today (19 October) on Globoplay, will be available on ViX+ before any other platform in the Americas.
Also as part of the deal, for outside of the Americas, both companies will coordinate distribution to the rest of the world.
Pierluigi Gazzolo, president and chief transformation officer of TelevisaUnivision described the deal as “a great opportunity for us to be able to take this content to our massive audiences, who are used to enjoying the great storytelling and production quality from both Globo TV and TelevisaUnivision.”
Erick Brêtas, Globo’s chief digital & pay-TV channels officer, added: “We believe that this is only a first step towards a long-term collaboration between our companies”.
