Kitchen Factory cooks up French version of ‘Next Level Chef’

France’s Kitchen Factory Productions has acquired competition format Next Level Chef for local adaptation.

The format, from Studio Ramsay Global, Gordon Ramsay’s  production venture created with FOX Entertainment, is set on a three-storey stage, with each floor containing a different kitchen full of culinary equipment and ingredients matching their environment – from the glistening top floor to the challenging bottom of the basement.

The show pits restaurant chefs, home chefs cooking or even social network stars, against one another. The contestants, surrounded by their mentors, will have to prove that they are the best, regardless of their working conditions, if they want to win a cash prize of €250,000 ($245,000).

The format, which airs on Fox in the US, was previously picked up by ITV in the UK. Chef Cyril Lignac will host the French edition, with Matthieu Jean-Toscani attached as producer.

Next Level Chef is the latest cooking show taken on by Kitchen Factory Productions, which is seeking to develop formats based around the culinary theme, and whose previous titles include Tous En Cuisine, Le Meilleur Patissier and Le Chef En France.

“When we launched the first ever series of Next Level Chef in the US at the beginning of this year, the goal was for other broadcasters and international territories to recognize the truly original and epic format,” said Ramsay.

“Following the US, the UK came on board and now I’m delighted Kitchen Factory Productions see the potential in bringing this fantastic format to the French screen.”
