Nickelodeon boards S3 of ‘The Adventures of Paddington’
StudioCanal has renewed its global distribution deal with Paramount kids’ brand Nickelodeon, which has come board the third season of CG-animated series The Adventures Of Paddington.
Produced by Heyday Films and StudioCanal, in association with Copyrights, the series is directed by Blue Zoo Animation Studio’s Adam Shaw and Chris Drew. Developed for television and written by Jon Foster and James Lamont, who also serve as executive producers, the show is broadcast in the US and internationally by Nickelodeon.
The show follows the younger adventures of the titular bear as he writes letters to his Aunt Lucy celebrating the new things he has discovered through the day’s adventures in London. Ben Whishaw (Paddington 1,2 & 3) voices the role of the title character.
The first season of the show has also been picked up in new deals with streamers including Netflix UK, HBO Max across Europe and Viaplay Group in the Nordic region. It has also been sold to raft of new broadcasters across Europe, including Česká Televize Czech Republic, MTVA Hungary, LTV Latvia, LRT Lithuania, TVP ABC Poland, RTVS Slovakia and DR Denmark.
Further partners include HKTVE Hong Kong, ABC Australia, TVNZ (New Zealand), MBC’s Shahid (MENA) and both CBC and Radio-Canada across English and French speaking Canada respectively, have also acquired the first available season.
StudioCanal CEO Anna Marsh commented “It is a genuine privilege for all of us at StudioCanal to look after this bear. From the development, production and distribution of the beloved Paddington films and TV series to filming with Her Majesty The Queen and Paddington Bear for the Platinum Jubilee, this quintessentially British brand has a heart, decency and kindness which resonates not only globally but for people of all ages. Paddington is timeless, and this comes at a time when we look to expand our brand activity underlining our ambition and genuine passion for a character so dear to all.”
