Welsh broadcaster S4C names Iwan England to lead unscripted push
Welsh-language broadcaster S4C has appointed Iwan England to the newly created head of unscripted post.
England will develop S4C’s co-productions, limited series, formats and international slate of content and joins having worked in production for more than two decades, latterly via his prodco Alpha Productions banner.
He was most recently exec producer on shows including BBC One’s Our Lives, having developed, produced and directed drama documentary Aberfan, The Fight for Justice for BBC One, BBC Wales and S4C. Other credits include BBC Two and BBC Wales series Funny Nation.
The hire follows a restructuring at the Sian Doyle-led broadcatser, with Llinos Griffin-Williams named chief content officer and the creation of three new senior commissioning roles.
England said: “At a time when the broadcaster is celebrating its fortieth anniversary and is developing ambitious new plans in unscripted. I look forward to collaborating with the vibrant production community and building new creative partnerships whilst being an unabashed cheerleader for Welsh talent in front of and behind the camera.”
Griffin-Williams added: “Well respected, with a passion for great storytelling, his experience and understanding of shaping ambitious and engaging content as well as nurturing talent means he will undoubtedly be a huge asset within the team as we grow our unscripted offerings for our audiences.”
