MasterChef+ set for Brazil

Band and Discovery Home & Health in Brazil is preparing to launch a new version of culinary hit MasterChef targeting older cooks.

MasterChef+ is being produced by Endemol Shine Brasil, whose parent, Banijay, sells the format via sales arm Banijay Rights.

The format marks the first local series version of the global culinary series to feature contestants 60-years-old and over. Banijay-owned Shine Iberia produced several specials for La 1 in Spain under the MasterChef Senior banner in 2020 and 2021.

Amazon to end Hunters

Amazon Prime Video is to end its scripted series Hunters, after the upcoming second season.

The show follows a group of Nazi hunters living in the US, with the first season starring Al Pacino. The second and final run will debut on 13 January.

Hunters was created by David Weil, who is showrunner and exec producer alongside Nikko Toscano, Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld. Peele and Rosenfeld’s Monkeypaw Productions is attached along with Amazon Studios.

Banijay Rights today announces the return of adventure reality format Survivor to Colombia, as MIP Cancun draws to a close in Mexico today.

Colombia’s RCN returns to Survivor

Colombian broadcaster RCN is to produce a new adaptation of Survivor to air in 2023, following a 15-year hiatus.

Survivor, La Isla de los Famosos will follow two tribes as they compete in daily challenges and immunity. The competition whittles down contestants until a final winner is crowned.

The agreement was brokered by Michelle Wasserman, SVP of Lat Am, USH & Brazil, at Banijay Rights. This latest deal follows recent news of a return of Survivor to the UK, with Banijay’s Remarkable Entertainment producing for BBC.
