CBS Entertainment ups Amy Reisenbach to president, as Kelly Kahl & Thom Sherman depart

Paramount’s CBS Entertainment has reshuffled its senior exec ranks, with president Kelly Kahl and SVP of programming Thom Sherman stepping down.

Head of current Amy Reisenbach will replace Kahl as president of entertainment, with Sherman getting a production deal with CBS that will see him produce for the network and parent, Paramount Global.

Reisenbach’s purview includes all primetime, daytime and late-night productions, reporting into CBS president & CEO George Cheeks.

She was previously EVP of current at CBS, having first joined the company in 2005 to work across its programming at CBS Studios.

The rejig marks the end of a near 30-year run for Kahl at CBS, who had been president of the entertainment division since 2018. Credits during that time include Fire Country, Ghosts and NCIS: Hawaii.

Cheeks described Kahl as a “masterful and fearless scheduler” and added that Reisenbach is “a brilliant, creative executive and an incredible, highly collaborative leader who has worked closely with all parts of the network and our Studios partners for many years.”

CBS parent Paramount has been restructuring swathes of its business as it adapts to streaming, with the departures described by Cheeks as a “restructuring and streamlining of leadership”.

Last month, veteran exec David Nevins, who oversaw scripted series for Paramount+ as chairman and CEO of Paramount Premium Group, revealed he would be leaving the company in what was then the latest reshuffle at the US studio.
