Starzplay strikes Espresso deal to stock streamer’s new documentary strand
Middle East-based streamer Starzplay has picked up 100 titles from Espresso Media International for its service in Pakistan, which has recently launched a new documentary section.
The shows encompass a range of topics and genres, from crime and environmental stories to sports and social issues docs, and total 150 hours in total.
Programming included ranges from Big Sonia, which explores life and liberation at Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen, to Paul Rudd-exec produced My Beautiful Stutter and Eating Up Easter, a character-led documentary exploring how the environment of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) is suffering due to tourism and globalisation.
The package also includes 21 hours of true crime content, 31 hours of educational documentaries, and 23 hours from Espresso’s science and space catalogue.
“We couldn’t be prouder that Starzplay has chosen Espresso’s catalogue from which to launch their documentary offering, with 100 titles curated to span multiple genres of our content and birth their factual state, especially given their popularity as Pakistan’s most rapidly growing streaming service,” said Jess Reilly, head of sales & acquisitions at Espresso.
