‘Italia’s Got Talent’ moves to Disney+ after 13 years on Sky Italia
Italia’s Got Talent is moving from Sky Italia to Disney+ for its next season, marking the first time that the Fremantle format will debut on a streaming service in Europe.
The upcoming 13th season of the entertainment show will be produced by Fremantle Italia as a Disney+ original, having aired on pay-TV service Sky Italia since 2010.
The move follows a similar deal by Disney+ last year to acquire a long-running competition format, having snagged the rights to ABC’s entertainment series Dancing With The Stars, which made a surprise move to the streamer after 16 years on the US network.
The well-travelled Got Talent competition format has been adapted in 72 countries and was originally created in 2006 by Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment, first appearing as America’s Got Talent on NBC in the US.
“Italia’s Got Talent represents a further milestone in building an increasingly broader and more complete general entertainment library for the Disney+ audience,” said Daniel Frigo, country manager, The Walt Disney Company Italia.
