WBD’s TNT ends scripted as ‘Snowpiercer’ S4 gets shopped by Tomorrow Studios

Post-apocalyptic series Snowpiercer will not reach its final destination on TNT, with the Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD)-owned US cablenet cancelling what was to be the fourth and concluding season of the trainbound thriller.

Producer Tomorrow Studios will now shop the series to other outlets, with CEO & partner Marty Adelstein and president & partner Becky Clements revealing in a statement: “We are so passionate about this series that we have acquired the rights to control the franchise. We hope to find the perfect partner shortly and finish a great ride with the final season.”

Recent events, such as Starz picking up Minx last week, similarily canned by fellow WBD service HBO Max, may provide hope that Snowpiercer will complete its journey.

Snowpiercer was the last scripted series remaining at TNT, following the post-merger WBD management putting an end to scripted programming at TNT and TBS last year as part of its cost-cutting measures. Production on season four had already been completed, but TNT decided not to release it, despite this latest run being the final instalment.

“We can confirm that TNT will not air season four of Snowpiercer,” said the network in a statement. “This was a difficult decision, but our admiration for the talented writers, actors and crew who brought Snowpiercer’s extraordinary post-apocalyptic world to life remains strong. We have been working collaboratively with the producers since last year to help the series find a new home where fans can continue to enjoy the compelling story and exceptional visual experience.”

Based on the 1982 French graphic novel Le Transperceneige and the 2013 film of the same name, Snowpiercer followed the last survivors of humanity living aboard a giant perpetually moving train in the years since the planet turned into a frozen wasteland.

Debuting on TNT in 2020, the series starred Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs and Sean Bean.
