Netflix orders thriller ‘The Madness’ & expands ‘Love Is Blind’ to UK
Netflix has ordered conspiracy thriller The Madness and a UK version of dating format Love Is Blind.
The Madness is created by Stephen Belber, who serves as co-showrunner alongside VJ Boyd, and produced by Chernin Entertainment, which is under a first-look deal with the streamer.
Colman Domingo (Zola, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) stars as media pundit Maurice Daniels, who must fight for his innocence and his life after he stumbles upon a murder deep in the Poconos woods. As the walls close in, Muncie strives to reconnect with his estranged family – and his lost ideals – in order to survive.
The eight-part limited series is executive produced by Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Kaitlin Dahill.
Peter Friedlander, VP of scripted series, Netflix, US & Canada, described the series as a “fresh take on the conspiracy thriller – turning the genre on its head with its multi-layered characters, propulsive action and swift pace.”
Meanwhile, a UK version of dating show Love Is Blind is heading to the streamer in 2024, from Married At First Sight producer CPL Productions.
The format follows singletons from across the country going on multiple blind dates in the hopes of finding romance.
A US version produced by Kinetic Content has already aired three seasons, while the show has also been adapted in Brazil and Japan.
