RTL+ tunes into ‘That’s My Jam’ for German adaptation
RTL+, the streaming service of German pubcaster RTL, has ordered a local version of musical format That’s My Jam.
This will be the sixth international adaptation of the NBCUniversal Formats title and will be hosted by musicians and brothers Bill & Tom Kaulitz, best known for their band Tokio Hotel.
That’s My Jam Mit Bill & Tom Kaulitz (aka That’s My Jam with Bill & Tom Kaulitz) is being produced by SEO Entertainment on behalf of RTL+ in collaboration with Universal Television Alternative Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group.
The format was originally spun-off from a musical segment on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in which celebrities compete in music-themed challenges. After a 2021 debut on NBC in the US, where a second season will launch in March, the format has since expanded to the UK and France, while adaptations in Italy, Spain and Mongolia are currently underway.
Frauke Neeb, program director at RTL+ said that the show’s combination of music and entertainment will make it right at home on the streamer, while Ana Langenberg, SVP of format sales & production at NBCUniversal Formats added: “That’s My Jam has proven itself to be the perfect format for local adaptation, with successful versions already launched in the UK and France last year, we’re so excited that German audiences will now get to experience the thrill of it.”
