Entertainment One crowned sales partner for Nutopia’s ‘Royal Mob’
Entertainment One (eOne) has acquired the global distribution rights (excluding the UK, Germany and Italy) to UK drama-documentary, Royal Mob.
Produced by Nutopia, the four-part series, which debuted on Sky History in the UK last year, delves into the family saga of the 19th-Century European Royal courts. Told through the eyes of Queen Victoria’s granddaughters – the beautiful Hesse sisters, and their passionate and doomed love affairs across Europe’s Royal courts – the series lifts the lid on the story which set cousin against cousin, relative against relative, and which saw millions plunged into the bloodiest war the world had ever known.
The series sheds light on the final throes of the most powerful empires of all time; a world in which the chink of champagne glasses and the rattle of royal jewellery gives way to the blast of bombs, war and murder.
Nutopia is behind factual titles including Netflix’s African Queens: Njinga and The Last Czars, while eOne’s unscripted offering also includes Inside China, Fearless: The Women Fighting Putin and I’m An Alcoholic: Inside Recovery.
“We’re delighted to bolster our expansive slate of premium non-scripted programming with the addition of Royal Mob,” said Kate Cundall, VP of acquisitions at eOne. “Nutopia are brilliant visionaries with a proven track record of delivering original, high-end factual content that is dynamic, timely and entertaining.”
