‘Fifteen-Love’ & ‘Nolly’ bound for Nordics as pubcasters pick up ITVS drama package
Five Nordic public broadcasters, including SVT in Sweden, NRK in Norway, YLE in Finland, DR in Denmark and RUV in Iceland, have combined their spending power to pick up a package of UK scripted series following a deal with distributor ITV Studios.
The agreement was struck at ITV Studio’s Drama Festival at London TV Screenings last week and sees the pubcasters picking up titles including Happy Prince’s relationship drama You & Me and World Productions’ drama, Fifteen-Love, set in the world of Grand Slam tennis.
The consortium has also acquired Nolly, the three-part drama produced by Nicola Shindler’s Quay Street Productions that stars Helena Bonham-Carter, as well as two other World Productions series: the medical thriller, Malpractice, as well as true-crime drama, The Hunt For Raoul Moat.
Also headed to the broadcasters are Mammoth Screen and Masterpiece’s co-production Tom Jones and two fact-based dramas produced by ITV Studios, The Walk In and Four Lives.
Fredrik Luihn, head of acquisitions, NRK, speaking on behalf of the group, said: “We are extremely pleased to be able to bring such a great line-up of top-quality British drama series to the Nordic audience.”
Gisela Asimus Minnbergh, EVP of distribution for EMEA, for ITV Studios, said it is “the combination of the calibre of producers we are now working with – Nicola Shindler, Simon Heath, Dominic Treadwell-Collins, Patrick Spence and Jeff Pope to name but a few – and the Nordics appetite for UK drama which makes partnerships like this possible.”
