WBD Lat Am picks up ‘Shasha & Milo’

Warner Bros. Discovery Latin America has picked up CGI action comedy, Shasha & Milo.

The 25 x 22-minute and 12 x 2-minute shorts show, aimed at 6-9-year-olds, follows 12-year-olds, Shasha and Milo, as they juggle school and their home lives, along with their secret new role as the Crescent Island Guardians.

Imbued with the power to transform between human, cat and a formidable hybrid form, they are tasked with protecting the island from villainous cats and their often ridiculous plots to gain ultimate power.

The deal follows Tencent Video’s pickup in China, with Zodiak Kids & Family France (a Banijay Kids & Family company) and South Korean studio, Pingo Entertainment, co-producing the series.

Zodiak Kids and Family Distribution holds international distribution rights to the series.

Peacock orders ‘Monk’ special

Peacock has ordered Mr Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, a feature-length follow-up to detective comedy series Monk.

The original creative team, including creator Andy Breckman, exec producer David Hoberman, director Randy Zisk, and stars Tony Shalhoub, Ted Levine, Traylor Howard, Jason Gray-Stanford, Melora Hardin and Hector Elizondo will return for the film.

UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, will serve as the studio for the project, which sees obsessive-compulsive San Francisco-based detective Adrian Monk (Shalhoub) return to solve one last, very personal case involving his beloved step-daughter Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding.

Peacock streams all eight seasons of Monk, which launched on USA Network in 2002 and ran for 125 episodes.

Disney+ cancels ‘Willow’

Disney+ has cancelled fantasy adventure series Willow after one season.

The Lucasfilm show, which served as a sequel to Ron Howard’s 1988 feature film, aired its eight-part series from November 2022 to January 2023.

Staring Warwick Davis and Ellie Bamber, it picked up on the events of the movie decades later and followed the titular sorcerer Willow as he set out to battle a new evil, joined by a new group of allies.
