HBO developing ‘Disengagement’, comedy series with Robin Thede

HBO is developing Disengagement, a new scripted comedy series with Robin Thede, the creator and star of A Black Lady Sketch Show.

Thede will serve as writer and executive producer on the half-hour long series, which she is developing under the overall deal she inked with HBO last year. Meghan Cheek is producing the series via For Better Or Words.

The series centers on the prestigious Cole family after a very public and embarrassing business implosion shatters their perfect Midwest image.

As the show reveals – it was just an image, because behind closed doors, even their dysfunction has dysfunction, proving family is the ultimate pyramid scheme.

The fourth season of Thede’s A Black Lady Sketch Show, in which she serves as the creator, showrunner, executive producer, writer and star, will debut on HBO next month.
