Fremantle Italy promotes Marco Tombolini to CEO
Fremantle Italy has promoted Marco Tombolini to CEO, with the exec expanding his remit to take the helm across all areas and functions of the company.
Tombolini has been serving as co-CEO of the company since May 2022, alongside Gabriele Immirzi, who has now become co-CEO of Fremantle label The Apartment Pictures with Lorenzo Mieli.
Senior management of Fremantle Italy will now report directly to Tombolini, who first joined Fremantle in 2018 as director of the then Wavy division, before he was promoted to chief strategy officer.
Tombolini will work alongside Jaime Ondarza, the former Paramount exec who was appointed as CEO for Southern Europe earlier this year.
Prior to Fremantle, Tombolini served as CCO of Endemol, managing director of Sony Spain and managing director of Toro Media and Talpa Italia.
Fremantle Italy is behind titles including crime docuseries Wanna for Netflix, crime procedural Non Uccidere and entertainment formats such as Italia’s Got Talent and The Voice Of Italy.
Andrea Scrosati, group COO and CEO of Continental Europe, Fremantle, said: “Italy is one of the most important countries for our group in terms of the extraordinary creativity the country’s talents express, along with their excellent professionalism and ability to deliver.
“Marco’s appointment confirms our commitment to continue investing in this market, creating new jobs and supporting the growth of the country’s cultural industry.”
