Paramount Global’s programming chief for streaming Tanya Giles to exit
Paramount Global’s chief programming officer for streaming Tanya Giles is to exit after almost three decades with the company.
Giles had previously been general manager of MTV Entertainment Group before taking up her most recent role in June 2021, which saw her overseeing content for its global streaming operations including Paramount+ and Pluto TV.
She reported into Tom Ryan, who was appointed president & CEO of ViacomCBS Streaming in 2020.
Her exit is not part of a wider rejig and it is unclear if the role will be filled, according to Deadline which broke the story.
Giles spent 28 years at Paramount and predecessor Viacom, working initially as a researcher at Nickelodeon, before spells at TV Land and Comedy Central.
Paramount has been overhauling its operation recently, most notably choosing to move pay TV cable network Showtime inside Paramount+.
Prior to that, Showtime’s CEO David Nevins had departed and the company subsequently moved the Paramount+ scripted originals team into Paramount TV Studios, which now leads on development and production for the streamer.
