Netflix orders ‘Scott Pilgrim’ anime, reunites original cast
Netflix has ordered a new anime series based on romantic action-comedy Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, reuniting the cast of the 2010 film.
Bryan Lee O’Malley, the author and artist of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series, upon which the film was based, and BenDavid Grabinski, serve as executive producers, writers and showrunners on the UCP series.
The original film’s director, co-writer and producer Edgar Wright meanwhile also exec produces, while Japanese animation house Science SARU serves as the animation studio with executive producer Eunyoung Choi and director Abel Gongora.
Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick and Brie Larson are among the actors returning to voice their roles from Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, which follows the titular musician who tries to win a competition while battling his girlfriend’s seven evil ex-boyfriends.
“We’re getting the band back together! A stellar cast, perfectly assembled by Edgar Wright. And, with Science SARU leading the phenomenal animation, we couldn’t ask for a better team for this adventure,” said O’Malley and Grabinski.
