WE tv’s VP of development & originals Lauren Gellert exits AMC-owned network
Lauren Gellert is stepping down as VP of development & originals at AMC Networks-owned WE tv.
Gellert has been with the US cable network for more than a decade and was behind shows ranging from Marriage Boot Camp to Love After Lockup. The exec previously worked for Ion Media Networks, Zodiak Media and TruTV.
A replacement at the network has not yet been named, with Gellert’s next move also not yet clear.
Brett Dismuke, GM of ALLBLK and WE tv, said: “Lauren has been the driving force behind WE tv’s original programming during a period of unquestioned growth, success and impact, even as viewing habits changed.
“The network’s ability over the last decade to not only make shows, but to build reality franchises that spanned multiple successful series has been remarkable, and that is a credit to Lauren and her team. We wish her nothing but the best.”
AMC revealed earlier this year it is planning to cut its content spending by around 20% in 2023, down to $1.1bn from $1.35bn in 2022. The group has also announced plans to cut around a fifth of its US workforce and implement “significant cutbacks” in operations.
