Factual round-up: C5, SBS & VRT travel into ‘The Frontier’; Foxtel & CTV Life among GRB deals; Pioneer lands Love Nature order
C5, SBS & VRT travel into The Frontier
Channel 5 in the UK, SBS in Australia and Belgium’s VRT are among buyers of Abacus Media Rights (AMR)’s factual series, The Frontier.
The 6 x 60-minute show has also been picked up by RTE (Ireland), Viasat World (Baltics, CEE, Scandinavia and CIS), YLE (Finland), SVT (Sweden) and NRK (Norway).
The series explores the legends, events and folklore of the American frontier. It has been produced by Daniel Sharp, founder & exec producer at Dash Pictures, with Abacus owner Amcomri Productions providing finance.
AMR will also launch history documentary Conquistadors: The Rise And Fall at MIPTV, with the show from Dash Pictures and Night Train Media.
Foxtel & CTV Life among GRB deals
Foxtel in Oz and CTV Life in Canada have picked up shows from GRB Studios ahead of MIPTV.
CTV Life Channel took home decoration series Living by Design S3, while Outdoor Entertainment Network acquired three programmes for its pan-regional channels in APAC: Down To Earth With Zac Efron, Jet Truck, and Showdown Of The Unbeatables.
Other deals have seen Foxtel licensing seasons one and two of Music’s Greatest Mysteries, while FilmRise has already premiered paranormal investigation series Death Walker in the US on its branded AVOD services, FAST and YouTube channels.
Pioneer lands Love Nature order
Love Nature has ordered a new wildlife show from UK-based Pioneer Productions.
Animals Like Us is a six-part series that explores how creatures behave like their human counterparts, with footage of monkeys that floss their teeth and an octopus that dreams, as well as a lovesick penguin and a flirting lioness.
The show will be available across Love Nature’s footprint in more than 145 countries, in addition to being rolled out on Sky Nature in the UK, Germany and Italy. Peter Collins is executive producer and Stuart Strickson is series producer for Pioneer. It will be distributed by Blue Ant International.
